Rites of Passage Journeys

NDIS Multi-Day Adventure & Camp Experiences

Rites of Passage Journeys at Tribes are immersive multi-day adventure experiences designed to support personal transformation, resilience, independence, and life readiness through real-world challenge and achievement.

These journeys provide the kind of experience many people think of as camps,  but with deeper purpose, leadership, and structured developmental outcomes. Each journey is intentionally designed to support participants as they step through meaningful challenge, responsibility, and reflection.

We deliver journeys across Australia and overseas, using landscape, movement, and responsibility as platforms for transformation, supporting NDIS capacity building and independence outcomes.

Rites of Passage
Across Cultures

Throughout history, rites of passage marked important transitions between stages of life, helping individuals step into greater responsibility, confidence, and independence.

These were not symbolic ceremonies, they were real experiences shaped by the environment, guided by experienced leaders, and grounded in challenge and achievement. Participants developed practical capability, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of their role within family and community.

At Tribes, this understanding shapes how we design our journeys.

Land becomes the classroom.
Challenge becomes preparation for real life.
Story and reflection help participants recognise how they have grown.

Through these journeys, participants are supported to cross important developmental thresholds, stepping forward as capable, confident, and responsible members of their communities.

How Rites of Passage Journeys Work at Tribes

Our multi-day journeys are intentionally structured to balance challenge, safety, preparation, and reflection.

Programs are built around:

  • Travel through natural and remote environments

  • Practical survival and life readiness skill development

  • Personal and group responsibility

  • Guided reflection and values-based leadership

Participants are supported by experienced leaders who provide structure, calm direction, and risk management throughout each journey.

Experiences are carefully paced to support achievement while respecting individual readiness, comfort, and personal goals.

Support, Safety
& Preparation

Participant safety and wellbeing sit at the centre of every Rites of Passage Journey.

As a registered NDIS provider, Tribes maintains structured risk management, supervision, and governance frameworks aligned with NDIS Practice Standards. Each journey includes detailed preparation, participant suitability planning, and clear communication with families, carers, and professional supports.

Participants are supported to step into challenge progressively, with preparation and care guiding every experience.
